Southern Indiana Business Regional Initiative - SoINbiz Regional Initiative Launched to Assist Start-Up Businesses in Southern Indiana

Batesville, IN – A new initiative has been launched in Southern Indiana by the Region 9 Workforce Board to help individuals looking to start or grow their own small business. SoINbiz, short for Southern Indiana Business, is a universal front door for entrepreneurs to connect them to organizations, programs, and people to help their small businesses succeed.
One of the most unique aspects of the program is the Front Door Champ. Front Door Champs are experienced entrepreneurs or business development professionals who serve as a local advocate on behalf of aspiring entrepreneurs. They are someone with a local knowledge of the business community and proven success in the same rural environment while leveraging the exact same resources and conditions. The purpose of the Front Door Champs is to provide access to someone who can counsel, help, assist, mentor, and provide entrepreneurs with the necessary tools they will need in order to succeed.

“There are over 250 organizations and programs assisting small businesses and entrepreneurs in Indiana. But there was no one place to collect and connect all of the dots until now,” stated Melissa Tucker, the SoINbiz Front Door Champ for Ripley County. “The sole mission of SoInbiz is to connect the dots for entrepreneurs and small businesses leading them to local small business ‘champs’ and service providers who are experienced in what it takes to start and grow a business.”

Funded by a grant through the Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs, this ten county initiative offers both online and personal assistance. SoINbiz offers these services to residents of Bartholomew, Dearborn, Decatur, Franklin, Jackson, Jefferson, Jennings, Ohio, Ripley, and Switzerland counties.

The SoINbiz Front Door can:
• Draw the map of resources for the entrepreneur
• Connect entrepreneurs to the service providers who can help them better manage you business
• Lead small business to their next customers
• Help create a plan for a small business and show who can help at each step
• Provide the forms you need to comply with federal, state, and local requirements
• Teach skills needed to better market and manage a small business.

“We feel supporting entrepreneurial growth in our region is important,” stated Bart Brown, Executive Director of the Region 9 Workforce Board. “Helping connect those individuals who are looking to start or grow their small business to the resources they need is a great way to grow the entrepreneurial capacity of our region.”

Small businesses or those interested in starting their own small business can open the door to opportunity and get their business growing at www.soinbiz.com or 1-888-SOINBIZ (1-888-764-6249).
